SMS alerts in excel

Is it possible to setup SMS alerts to your mobile phone from an excel spreadsheet? Anyone have any experience of doing this?

There is no native support for this in Excel - however there are third party providers. Personally I would take a look at something like TextAnywhere and hire a developer to do this - although if you are an Excel wiz you may be able to do this yourself. I would stress that if the messages are very important and you want to know for sure that they have been received/sent - then you probably want a developer to do it.
You can also hook into received messages in Excel - insomuch as it should be possible to send a message "KillOrders" to a number and your Excel spreadsheet pulls orders etc. Of course you want to sent a message to say that the operation was successful - not just that it was received.
You could do P&L/position reports and all sorts of interesting things.
Remember though, always make sure that security is high - it is possible for internet packets to be snooped at the last thing you want is someone sending a text to your system to wipe out your account. If you actually want to modify and enter orders - probably best to get a PDA with Remote Desktop built in and just remote into the PC from that.
