Is mouse faster through PS/2 or USB?

Even in the world of kill-or-be-killed 3d gaming, it's not something I've worried about. Reliability of the system and the speed and reliability of the connection are my main concerns when I think about trading.

That said, do NOT get a rechargeable mouse. They are known to suddenly just stop working when the battery runs out, which could be fatal when you want to close a position...

Actually, the speed - or responsiveness - of a mouse can be adjusted. This is a sad question, but what is worse, I know about it. I'm sorry, I refuse to answer.

OK, I'll pm but don't let on.

Grant (a very interesting person).

I meant which one provides the fastest connection. I remember that TT used to recommend one over the other for use with X-trader but I couldn't remember which one.

Possibly. Damned frustrating when you're playing an online computer game. One minute it is working perfectly and the next it suddenly stops. Takes a few seconds to realise what is wrong.

I don't suppose it makes a shed load of difference but is one faster than the other?

Same speed, but any USB connected device will drain your system resources. Depending what your demands are run the mouse on PS2.

The same goes for your keyboard.

Think of the bus system as a 6 lane motorway with an additional hard shoulder for emergency services

If the 6 lanes are fully populated with say printer, webcam, keyboard, scanner, phone charger, office fan, then just like a motorway the traffic will cause a slowdown.

The emergency lane (ps2 bus) has no competition or conflicts so if not faster will wt least be more stable.

PS/2, strictly speaking, but really shouldn't make a difference. If you do want a fast mouse, though, I can recommend the Razer series:

KustomPCs.co.uk

That said, if you're using a standard out of the box mouse that came with your PC, a merely fairly good mouse such as:

KustomPCs.co.uk - Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

should suit you much better. The Razers are seriously fast mice. I can do a complete screen left-right swipe in about 2cm of mouse mat with my Krait. Expect to spend a week or so getting used to that sort of speed (and the Krait's low end for a Razer).
