UPS - Advice

After 2 consecutive days of power supply problems, I figured the time has come for a UPS solution.

I have googled and it seems that there are in effect 2 different types of systems :

- : a cheaper variant (upwards to £100) which provides from 5 to 30 minutes i.e. time to exit any open positions and close down safely
- : and expensive (any price) for continual trading.

Would welcome any advices on models, preferred choice, any experiences of usage of a UPS system and/or anything related.

check the metric of the akku. it has to be a cheap one.

I bought a Belkin Superior Series UPS with 6 sockets all surge protected and 3 sockets with battery back-up. It cost around £35 on ebay and does the job just fine, providing up to 8 minutes or so of backup.

Hi Vegas,

Although my bread and butter has always been U.S. Stocks, I have in the past done some experimenting on the side with automated forex trading.

To get around the power supply problem, I just used a laptop computer with a wireless 3G card plugged into it. In the event of any power cut, the laptop's own battery would keep the system running for 2 to 3 hours and the 3G card would ensure a continuous connection to the internet until the power came back on.

Just an idea as an alternative to a UPS.
