Mornin all,

My laptop battery usually lasts about 3/4 hours if I am just running a chart and a browser window but turn on WMP and its gone in an hour tops.

Does anyone know if there is something I can alter or a different music player that doesn't eat the battery so quickly?

cheers

i think you'll find that its just that any application which uses more power (ie playing music) is going to eat battery juice faster than a relatively simply app such as charting etc.

you could try something like VLC media player but I think you'll find much the same result.

Well I wouldn't have thought playing music via any program (internet radio, windows media player etc) would have made that big a difference on power usage. Certainly cutting it from 3-4 hours to one seems very extreme. Make sure you're not doing something dumb like playing visualizations etc? Othewise you could certainly try winamp maybe? I'm sure there are loads of others out there to try as well.

Ah of course, now why didn't I think of that Don?!

Thats what I thought ewilcox but it certainly is making a difference and no I don't have anything like visulizations going. It seemed bizarre it would make this size difference which is why I thought maybe its just a crap program and another might be better.

I'll have a butchers at downloading a few others and see if they make a difference.

Wasp, try itunes, free from the apple site.

It runs on windows too!

Apple Computer now one third the size of Microsoft.
