Hi Everyone

I would be grateful for some 'techie' advise please.

I currently have a laptop with a 2.8Ghz Intel Celeron D processor and 512Mb Ram.

I am looking at an ultra-portable tablet with a 1.2Ghz Intel Centrino ULV 753 processor and again 512Mb ram.

Are these comparable? Will the tablet at 1.2Ghz processor speed be a lot slower?

I am looking at it, as I am going to be travelling a lot in the coming year and want something more portable. My laptop is great around the house - moving from room to room, but quite heavy when you need to travel with it.

Advise gratefully received. :cheesy:

Hi JillyB,
The 1.2 Ghz will be slower that the 2.8Ghz that you currently have, but having said that it really depends on what your using your laptop for, if for instance you just need to go online a check up how your stocks are doing , or send and recieve emails, no problem, but if you use heavy-work load intensive Applications / software, say graphic design or heavy data calculations then the pc will slow down ,

I use the CMC trading software, which has a charting package as part of it.

I would be looking to be able to access this with the streaming price feed - as I currently use on my main laptop.

It's just that the 1.2Ghz processor speed seems a lot less than 2.8 Ghz, but in the back of my mind I seem to remember something about there being a difference between the Centrino processors and the Celeron processor speeds - but other than that I can't recall it.

Yes youre propbably right, if you can imagine a car with a 1.2 engine and another with 2.8, which one will perform quicker? get the highest processor spec, and Ram you can afford, it will all help, if you buy the 1.2, I think you will notice its slower

Thanks for the posts. :cheesy:

I'll follow up the links and see.

The chip is given as being Centrino ulv 753 - if that makes any sense - totally over the top of my head. (Now if it were Jimmy Choos or Manola's - I'd know the answer!!! )
