Virus in my downloaded program files

Hello All,

I have a virus in my downloaded program files. As far as I am aware these are small files held on my computer to help open web pages if I go to them in the future. Is this correct, if so I can more or less delete everything in this file.

Thanks,

Breadman

What is the virus? Have you tried removing it? What AV programme are you running? Also try these online scans

Hello Oatman,

It's called a (columbia dialler) it has something to do with porn. Spyware Doctor found it but wants me to pay $19 to remove it. I have Norton which finds a virus but is unable to delete it . I have run Panda and Housecall which find something which I then delete. But next time I run Spyware Doctor it's their again.

Thanks,
Breadman

Breadman, you can safely delete that "installer.inf" file. I would then delete all your webpage temporary folder contents: In Internet Explorer got to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files > Check delete all offline content > Ok

If you have Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy, update and run these now.

You should never need to pay. There's plenty of free stuff out there.
Here's some free info and advice

Also beware of bogus spy removers. They find non-existent problems and then sell you the software to "clean" it out.
