Hi,

I am looking for places to buy a second-hand laptop. I will use the laptop for net surfing, some research work and as a backup for my main trading computer, so it does not have to be cutting edge. But it must be stable, reliable at a reasonable price.

Any recommendations? Presumably Ebay is an option, but I would rather not go there unless absolutely necessary. Many thanks. :)

Many thanks. May I ask if anyone has any experience with any of the organisations listed above? If so:

1. Did the received products match exactly their descriptions at the website? In particular, were their quality guaranteed?

2. Did the warranty work as described? If there had been problems, had the organisation dealt with them in a no-nonsense manner?

Thanks indeed.

Hi Paul,

I am looking to get a suitable one for no more than £150, though the price is the lower the better.

Sorry can't actually recommend or vouch for any of the links I posted, they were just pulled up on a search and I haven't used any of them.

Yes, still have a working 233 mmx laptop gathering dust on the desk :cheesy:

eagletower, what a great link you have posted, had a quick browse of their ebay store and found a dual xeon, dual HD, dual gfx base with xp & licence for under £65 delivered. now that looks a bargain and it even mentioned in the description as being good for "multiple tasks in financial trading and analysis". Plenty left, I may buy one as a backup pc as it's a lot better spec than my current backup.

HP W6000 DUAL XEON 36GB SCSI/512MB/DVD/XP 3.4GHz Total on eBay, also, Desktop PCs, Computing (end time 27-Aug-08 19:33:45 BST)

Thanks for that link eagletower. I'd been toying around with the idea of getting a new PC and I'm certain I will now. Upgrading to one of those machines would be well worth the money. Might even buy two so that I can learn to use linux on one of them before building a "this computer will take over the house" PC:devilish:

no worries guys, glad to have helped, this forum has given me a lot back in information so it's nice to be able to help back :)
