HI

What would be the best way to trade from home; using cable or dsl? I can either get DSL with max downloads from 1.5 - 3.mbps and max uploads from 384 - 512 kbps or

cable with downoads to 3.0 kbps and max uploads of 256kbps

thanks

Personally, I would go for the fastest option possible but I am in the UK and things may be different for you in the USA.

HI

Well, say that the upload and downloads are the same, is there a preference then?

I used to know a couple of traders in he US who used cable primary and dsl backup, which would suggest they had more faith in the cable either for stability or speed. Not suggesting you need to have both but rather pointing out their order of preference. BTW your cable download speed looks wrong, 3.0kbs would be a slow dialup.

Once you go above a modest speed stability should be yur primary concern as far as the trading is concerned. 0.5Mbs is plenty fast enough to trade. Upstream speed is of little importance as the amount of data you send in trading is minimal

I would go for DSL, as it is very cheap at the moment, and the download/upload speeds are fast. The reliabilty is a provider issue, not the connection type. Trust me. :D :D :D
