Keeping them honest

Need some input from a techie...just bought my daughter a new PC from a local company..went through the spec etc and subsequently took delivery. Now here's the rub.....on my spec sheet the pc should have a AMD Sempron 2800 processor ,but on looking it has a Sempron 2400 ...now they are coming to change the processor , but I'm wondering did I get everything else that I asked for...inparticular I am wondering about the graphics board..yes I probably got one ,but have they palmed me off with a relatively cheap board...where do I look to get the full low down on what is in this machine ?
When I went looking I was focussing on a Pentium machine ,but they told me Athlon was a better performer than the equivalent Sempron..is that a fact ?
LOL...the problem is when you come across some issue you don't expect to find there's a tendency to start scrutinising everything

I'm assuming you have Windows XP on it, I'd be surprised if it weren't the 'home' version, but it's probably pretty similar to my pro version so...
Click 'Start' menu, (bottom left of taskbar) Then select 'All programs' -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System information.
The first screen (System summary) will let you check the processor, who made the motherboard and what model it is, how much RAM is fitted. Now click the [+] next to 'Components' and it'll list the fitted hardware in sections, under 'Multimedia' if you click 'Display' your graphics card info will appear.

Athlon and sempron are both AMD processors and as I understand it Athlon would be more upmarket than Sempron. As for AMD v Intel I am lead to believe that equivalent AMD's are generally faster than Intels and should be cheaper.

Thanks guys, I have now got the diagnostics sorted (cheers Tony)...and lo instead of a 256mb graphics the pc as a paltry 32mb....this doesn't happen to me often,but when it does I enjoy it but I doubt they will
