HELP Please!

Never had a problem using Norton before today. So I'm now pulling my hair out trying get rid of a warning sign that Norton have put on my PC. It warns that they have blocked a virus they label as 'MHTML redir.exploit' Apparently low priority! But the darn warning box keeps coming to the top of the various Windows I'm running, and knocking out charting software (ProRealTime) I'm running via IP, so I can't ignore it.

Their own software maintains that there is no infection but everytime I get rid of the warning box, it comes back again, & again, & again, grahhhhh.

Anyone here know what I can do, I've tried switching off my PC, I've run Norton live update twice, each time it tells me its up to date with no infections, I've installed a suggested Microsoft patch relating to the virus and I've still got the problem. I can't use my PC with it stuck right in the middle of the screen!

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Sally.

No idea, but goto Symantec.com and type in the virus name and see if there's any help.Did you delete the mail from your inbox and then from the deleted folder? Have you looked in Norton's quarantine folder and deleted it from there?

This sounds like some kind of trojan/spyware which has got onto your system but Norton is blocking its attempt to run. You should try some of the online spyware detection sites to start with, there's a list here in on T2W in the software guide I think e.g. www.pestscan.com, or download and run something like SpyBot.

SallyT,
there's probably an option in one of the Norton settings/ configuration where you can switch it off
look where you can set up different options, ie have it do a complete scan everyday etc
I don't have Norton installed on my PC anymore, so I'm a little unclear on exactly where to search.....................Good Luck
