how much faster is a dual core processor

I would like to know how much faster is a dual core processor than the older single core processor.i'm thinking about upgrading

It is not just processor speed that you need to consider, you will need to have enough RAM as well. Also one of the main considerations is to turn off all the nonsense applications / processes that come as default settings with almost every new pc. I also find that for any new piece of software installed it always sets itself to boot up on start-up which is almost never needed and just hogs unnecessary pc resources. I turn off all that is not necessary.

Agreed. You need processor, RAM and cache so you don't spill over onto hard drive and. Slow everything up. Turn stuff off through task schedule and windows services config to stop hoggy programs made by Steve jobs and his ilk.
