I prefer Opera as its supposedly the best there is. Secondarily I use Firefox.

I intentionally dont use Internet Explorer.

But, it has been said that Chrome is as safe (security-wise) as Opera, and maybe better.

Any views as to Chrome being safer and better (with regards to filtering out malware and viruses)

I use AVG (free version) as anti-virus and firewalls, etc.
(and SpyBot)

it isnt InternetExplorer!

Yes that is a good reason and I have not used IE for as long as I can remember. I use Firefox mostly and Chrome for some other uses (such as internet radio). I did try Opera but did not find it that friendly but maybe I should revisit this.

I started using chrome a few days ago (before I switched between explorer and firefox) and I find it noticeably faster and it is now my default.

I haven't used opera since v9.smthg lot of compatibility issues but must be said that seems chrome stole a lot of interface ideas from them.

personally I use chrome now as I think faster than mozilla and I hate IE

I use Firefox as primary, Opera as secondary. This is useful when you have 2 monitors and need to know which browser you're currently in - gets a bit confusing with 2 instances of one browser running.

I like Firefox's comprehensive tools manageability - especially for cookies. However, for general surfing Opera's smooth scrolling and "Speed dial" tabs are really good. No noticeable speed/loading differences with either on a 4Mbps ADSL connection. Chrome good on the Netbook where it uses less screen without loads of fiddling with settings.

All are good but haven't improved my trading.

I've been using Chrome for several months. No issues and it's noticeably faster than IE. My daughter likes firefox better than Chrome, but I haven't tried it.

I also use the Avast free antivirus. After trying several paid ones that all have given me headaches, the free one works best.

Same set up. Moved on from free AVG to free avast. Gobbles up less memory and is less invasive.

the fat lady has sung, and expired on stage most melodramatically!

have been having some irritating "plug-in failed" errors, and some weird "Opera Turbo" issues.

am now on Chrome as primary, and Firefox as secondary. see how it goes.

the curtain has fallen on Opera, and there are no encores.

EDIT: mainly, the youtube and BBC iPlayer were getting delayed massively, in addition to the weird errors.

As a long time opera user i have to say I'm encountering the same sort of problems.

Switched to Safari as my secondary browser now, very impressed with it so far, Opera will have to get more efficient if it is to maintain it's current market share.

Still using Firefox as my primary browser, though Firefox 4 is creating ripples of disquiet, don't know if I like it or not yet.

Never really warmed to Chrome and IE is a non-starter.

Chrome is supposedly the fastest. I also recently read an article there was a competition to hack into browsers, ie was the first to drop followed by firefox, in the end chrome wasn't hacked. The prise was a nice chunk of change.. I don't have the link at hand but if you google it you will find the article

This could be because the latest version has a plugin container as part of the software that makes the whole thing slow down. I disabled it and it is now fine.

I agree that Chrome is faster, but I do like Opera, it's more comfortable for me. I personally don't like Google products except gmail.com and google.com. Android, Chrome, Chrome OS.... they miss something...
