Frustrations using TOR with t2w

It really has become quite tiresome to find after constructing a post that when I hit the submit button, an IP address issue message appears and all my efforts are lost. If the site has banned an IP address why can it not tell me that when I login rather than wait until after I have expended the effort in constructing a post and then try to submit it?

I appreciate the reasons given by t2w staff for banning some IP addresses and I have been warned that this would increasingly become more a problem, but as my employer allows me to use the internet connectivity they provide me as a home-worker for personal use on the basis of me adhering to their security and privacy policies – one of which is that I use TOR – I really have no option but to abide by their rules.

On that basis I’m afraid the increasing irritations of trying to be a fully contributing member of this site even with all the excellent advice and generous support I have been given are outweighed by the technical barriers to doing so.

This is an enormous shame for me as it's an excellent site with a great bunch of experienced and helpful members. Thank you to all who have personally given of their time, knowledge and skills to help me further along the way.

Good luck to you all.

Somewhat bemused by this post. Can you elaborate? From what you have said your employer has advised you have to use TOR for personal traffic is this correct?

So by using Tor you don't leak your personal broadband IP to sites that you use which isn't connected to your work network anyway seems a strange request.

If they are so bothered about privacy they shouldn't be allowing browsing out via tor in the first place as it's an encrypted tunnel that they can't sniff which you could be doing anything on. Not only this whichever person or entity that is running your tor exit node can see all of your traffic in the clear which provides you with no privacy etc...

If you are able to login then your IP cannot be banned as it would not allow you to even get to the point of posting. When certain users are banned then their IP also gets banned. I don't see how you can login and then find an IP issue unless the Tor network you are using is using a rotating IP whilst on site. I am curious to know why any company insists you use a Tor network when posting from a work environment ?

Do you not have your own home internet connection that you can use?

Just checked the IP addresses of two posts made today and they are different. So I am guessing that the proxy being used is changing the IP even when already logged into the site. If this is the case then T2W cannot address the problem as we do not have the ability to instantly inform members that their own IP address has changed.

Maybe he's employed by Jimmy Saville's estate?

Boom!

Anyone who wanted to use an employer provided internet connection for personal use in this manner would invest in their own tenner a month connection outside of the TOR restrictions since a. (most importantly) this is bs, b. using free relays to do almost anything is slow as hell.
