I have been a member of a few forums over the years specialising in different subjects of interest and every single one of them became noticeably quieter around the time facebook became mainstream...add twitter and youtube to that and T2W becomes an ever decreasing niche community..
Absolutely correct.

that's the way it should be.
are there many active members about who could call out another howard cohodas? i can count a couple, but thats it. if there are more, they're not prevalent. thats the decline in quality, surely linked to the drop in traffic, and i have to agree with new_trader, that trend is more a consequence of changing cultural media tastes, and much less to do with the (mis)management of t2w.

i will refrain from adding more doom & gloom.

good luck to steve et al though, and i appreciate the honest appraisal as per his opening post, very refreshing.

I would agree with Steve's appraisal. But as some have pointed out its 180 degrees out of phase with the attitude of the majority of the t2w staff, and one or two of the moderators.

It's clearly ridiculous to claim that everyone is 100% behind the new vision when you have the content management team publicly disagreeing with practically every word he's written. that's just the old style t2w ostrich with its head in the sand management style that we've come come to know and love.

Lets not forget, the people who are currently so vocal in disagreeing with Steve's assessment where the very people promoting Howard Cohodas. It's great lulz, but rather tragic really.

Good to know that you've finally seen the error of your ways and completely agree with Steve. It's a step in the right direction.

I can think of a few people you need to be apologizing to, it seams that they where right and you where wrong

I have long ago understood the futility of engaging with you as you pursue your vendetta against T2W with your deft mixture of half-truths, twisting of the facts or T2W peoples' comments, presenting your opinion as fact, etc, etc, with the odd downright lie thrown in from time to time. Very good you are at it, too - if you were selling it I'd set peebee onto you, then you'd be in trouble

However, let's say for a moment that you are right in everything you say (there you are - there's a nice bit of ammo you can tuck away to produce like a white rabbit from a hat in some future post along the lines of "even a moderator agrees 100% that it's a disaster" ) just what is the point of dwelling on the past?

Why not stick to the right hand edge of the chart and reserve your fire for things that happen that are "out of phase" with what Steve has been saying? I expect you'll find something, but do try to do better than the ".....publicly disagreeing with practically every word he's written...." so called "fact".

Good hunting

Socrates was the only one capable of getting me, truly, irritated.

An American boss used to come out with some outrageous claims and, once , when I protested about them, he looked at me, winked and said "Always remember, Split, the three b's. Bull+++t baffles brains."

That sums up Socrates' attitude towards us on T2W

I am not dwelling on the past, I'm commenting about the future (probably a short lived miserable affair, but the future nonetheless)

Anyone who actually reads any of Tim's posts defending t2w will instantly see that he's in complete and total disagreement with Steve's analysis. How can anyone move on before these issues are resolved ?

Steve hasn't really said anything other than "it's about the members" so at the moment it's impossible for me to identify situations that may be at odds with what's being promised. Hopefully things will be one clearer as time elapses.

You know as well as I do that my criticism of t2w has always been based on pointing out hypocrisy, and a number of Steve's posts on this thread deserve comment. At least 2 people have stated that they've been banned simply for holding opinions that differ from t2w's staff. Steve's been invited to review the comments and reasons made by those staff, and he's chosen to ignore those complaints. I understand why he would choose to ignore my posts, but when he's doing it to others, questions are going to be asked.

A month or so ago a thread discussing historic reasons for bans was deleted very quickly. That thread was proof that Steve's assertion that members do not receive bans for holding opinions that differ from staff, or for criticizing staff simply are not true. The evidence is (or more accurately was) there for all to see.

I have no strong opinions on how t2w should be run, it's your business not mine, but hypocrisy has to be highlighted where it exists.

I think new_trader made the point earlier that forums in general are a dying breed. If you google terms such as 'is this forum dying' or 'are online forums dying out' you'll find the same discussion taking place elsewhere. It does look like this is the trend and certainly many trading vendors and signal providers appear to be using twitter.

Perhaps the quality posters are going that way too, steering clear of forums where everybody has a say and just using the likes of twitter because of the way they can control it for their own purposes and not be subject to 10 new threads every day on 'is scalping good'.

the hare,
I've really no idea what you're on - or on about. I'm in complete agreement with Steve's analysis. And fear not, T2W will 'move on' just fine!
Tim.

How bizarre. You have dozens of posts defending t2w's partner offers but now you suddenly agree with Steve that mistakes where made. If you actually agree with Steve one really has to ask why you spent countless hours contradicting yourself and defending a situation that you you knew to be wrong. The only logical conclusion one can draw is that you where paid to defend t2w's reputation and did as instructed whilst knowing you where misleading the membership. If that's the case, I would question your suitability for the role you hold.

You have dozens of posts defending t2w's cover up when mistakes happened previously, but now miraculously, you agree with Steve that cover ups where not handled appropriately.

You have dozens of posts denying a decrease in site traffic, and yet now you agree with Steve that the site is quiet !

Your behavior is completely bizarre. Thankfully I'm not the only one who can see it

You are however to be congratulated for providing desperately required lulz.

I have a question for Steve or Timsk.

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/firs...ml#post1994034

Why is this still allowed to continue?
Unregulated brokers openly linking and touting for business.

The solution is quick and easy.
I see no excuses for the lack of action.

i'm thinking there isn't going to be much in the way of action. they already appear to be back peddling like mad on the vendor issue.

in july the ceo said "This vendor situation needs fixing. It is high on my list of priorities because things can't carry on like this. Changes have to be made and we'll make them."

but in october we get "I have no intention of banning vendors from the main boards, this should be about contribution not status. Nor should we prevent vendors from answering questions about their own products"

by all means correct me if i'm wrong, the october quote reads as the rules exactly as they are now. that must mean steady as she goes captain, no change of course, fly the false flag of fighting lulz lads and we'll get through it.

it's been noted that other forums are moving to protect members by curtailing vendoring in a big way. why is t2w not doing more on this?

Within the next few hours all will be revealed (unless he fails to deliver on his promise of posting before he goes on holiday) regardless a promise has been made, vendors will be dealt with decisively. Time will tell

The most important thing to share is my overall vision for T2W and itís actually pretty simple.

Itís about the members. Thatís it.

We have to get back to being a thriving community where people want to be, where they are able to have real trading discussions in a safe and enjoyable environment.

This does not mean taking all the fun out of it Ė many people have asked me if Iím going to ban lulz or lead a campaign against it. No, is the simple answer. Personally I find a lot of it very funny , itís all about boundaries and we need to make sure that we are not just about the lulz, something that many people have accused us of in the recent past.

As I have already said, I think we should also become more of a voice for our members and deal decisively with the vendor situation, Iíll post more on this before I go on holiday next week.

Iíll also be making sure that our commercial side is focused on benefiting our members by (for example) securing special deals with suppliers, deals where there is no sharing of any discounts, it will all be passed to you. It is early days and Iíll keep you posted on how this develops.

Right, thatís enough for today. I have a lot more to say but there's no point in bombarding you with all of it at once, especially as this is meant to be an exchange.

Steve
all sounding good to me ......
