Capitol Needed for Swing Trading

it depends on :
1) how much capital you have that you can spare. Ask yourself again is $6000 the absolute amount that you can afford to lose without feeling that "you could die" if you lost all $6000
2) How many days do you consider swinging your trade
3) How big your lot you bought/sold is. ie. are you playing with micro/mini or standard lot size.

i am planning on trading forex and i would probably only be comfortable losing 3k to be honest. Is 3k enough to take a shot at the forex market?

thanks, ryan

3K can be enough for forex, as long as you trade the right way. I would suggest using OANDA, due to the fact that you can trade small size and build a "portfolio" of trades, rather than leveraging all your equity on one position, like you would trading standard lots.

Don't risk any more than 1 or 2% of your equity per trade.

Gook luck and happy trading!

is there any good demo software out there? i dont want to start trading real money quite yet.

All of the forex brokers have demo accounts, OANDA, FXCM, take your pick. Most of them will let you trade as long as you want as well.

3k probably is enough if you play with mini/micro accounts.
