Not many real ones left now but.........

NAT GRID
Bloomberg.com: Investment Tools

looks interesting as it comes close to 52L today.
Nat Grid reports in about 8wks and it's tanking..... not sure why (doubt it's just the recent fine by ofgem) but ......they are a big player in uk obviously both in elec and gas. Secondly they are big in US specifically NYC... They were bullish on growth at the interims and later announced a progressive divi policy... yield is not bad too - but compared to banks and housing it's skimpy - but we know why that is

Magic of 52 should reward you as the new upwave unfolds in the coming weeks (hopefully). :cheesy:

Interesting comments. From a FA viewpoint I'd like to know why it's tanking - but I don't do FA in a serious way. TA doesn't do anything for me at present. I'll certainly watch the "magic of 52" with interest. I'm gonna sit this one out until I see a reason for entry.

Sound Policy

Glad you take that view because so do I .......
I just wanted to bring it to people's attention .... the management are very bullish but the shares are going down the tube... we'll probably find out WHY soon cos their year end was 31 Mar... and trade statement usually follows...

In short I JUST LURV Nat Grid's business model... so will watch with bated breath...

Nat Grid - now up sharply 2d since mention .... but 740 could be barrier.....
Management continue their share buy back........

Update

NatGrid,
Bloomberg.com: Investment Tools

Centrica and BT group are still poorly but could be basing or forming a higher low ?
Consequently still interesting......... BT yields over 7% and reports in around a month.

New Addition : Scottish and Southern Energy
Bloomberg.com: Investment Tools
hit 52L monday 21st and today has first upbar... very early days but the problems whatever they are will be resolved they usually are .............

I'd be careful around SSE at the moment. I went short after the descending triangle broke down and though it's powering back up just now this often happens before the downtrend establishes. If it doesn't break 1400 and stay above that level for a while then I think that a significant fall is likely.

1400 obstacle agreed....

Thanks for the prod sync .......this thread is really about recovery (investment) situations rather than short term trading opps ... although some might play them as trades :cheesy:

We know SSE, CNA and the rest of the sector will recover .... but you're right we have to be careful about being too early ....:)

Centrica hit new 52L thurs...............but look poised for something.

scottish & Southern holding 1400 for now..................

NatGrid still doing nothing ...holding around 700p

Bt goup still available..........

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
slow burn but we'll get there...... rumours that buffett likes Centrica were quickly disgarded but who knows at these levels...!

Interestingly, united utilities is in the throes of it's annnual pilgrimmage to their june peak.....so pullbacks could be bought.......perhaps

Centrica (CNA) is still available.................. nobody loves it so keep a close watch!!!!
Don't forget the furore when the Russians wanted to buy it not that long ago ..... also if I was Buffett I'd be interested ........ just a thought!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nat Grid (ng. or [ng/ on bloomberg]) now moving well hitting 753 Wed and the highest in 3 months! Some may recall my first post on utilities ....... "close to 52L .... reporting in 8wks" .... Magic of 52
Looks like we might be about to break out ?? but from low 680's to 753 is not that bad ... for starters.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) - what can I say ? I marked your card when it hit 52L at 1312 and now we are at 1452 well clear of the pesky 1400 level. Now a positve test of 1400 would be "acceptable" .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
United Utilities (uu. or uu/[bloomberg] ) ......."in the throes of it's annual pigrimmage to their june peak" ? We hit 743 Wed (may highs) so we are on track after pulling back to 695ish early May. Hold on did I say pullback could be bought -perhaps ......... well thankfully it would have worked - this time :) I'd "like" to see some weakness before june peak ....... but we'll see

Many were getting excited when British Energy (Bgy) broke 600 to fly towards 800 good luck to them. It was a nice trade... but I think I mentioned them when they were sub 400 ... near 52L  Why ? I foresaw a nuclear future and with that in mind weakness in Brit Energy was interesting....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DRAX (drx) - given my fondness for lowly stox I've been slow to get on board this one. However, having now broken it's 2yr downtrend any pullback would be interesting. Somewhere in the mid to low 600's would be worth looking at - perhaps. I prefer them nearer 52L but it "seems" to have started a new upwave after hitting/testing all time lows in Jan 08. Okay Okay I missed out :).
