apparently 2 ex city guys - started own platform - sending out equity trading ideas - small risk/decent reward

It's just a trading name for delta index. So it's not a brand new platform.

knew that - was after any insight - apparently they have an advisory license and they are sending out trading ideas concentrating on the US - quite a unique angle - no one else seems to be doing this

I was under the impression that spread betting could only be tax free is it was on a n execution-only basis. If these guys are providing a discretionary service I think it changes the trade from being a bet to being an investment and therefore its is taxable?

Would anyone be able to confirm if this is correct?

No different to a horse racing tipsheet. As long as you're not betting as a profession it shouldn't be taxable.
