Anyone trade with a partner? (not a proposition, just a question)

Hi, I'm trying to find out if any spread traders/betters trade with a partner or if you all trade solo? What is your opinion on trading with a partner? Have you ever considered it?

I posted earlier today in the first forum 'General Trading ...' and if this topic interests you you can go there and check out some of the replies i got there. Thing is they're mainly from stock/forex traders and none liked the idea, i have to admit.

Anyway, I just wanted to share what I think is a viable trading strategy and thought it would be interesting to hear other traders' views.

Just a quick explanation of what I'm getting at:
Partner trading i.e. two (or more) traders trading the same or different markets with the intention of hedging each others exposure and attempting to profit separately in opposing directions while acting as a single entity (i.e. business partnership). Did I articulate that right?

Cheers

but if you trade the opposite with the intention of hedging each other, why not just use the 'force open' option (if you trade with IG, for example)?

Don't quite know what you mean. There are many ways to do it, either on the same platform or on two different platforms. Yes IG's force open would work or I could also buy the Rolling Daily and hedge with the Daily Future at the same spread on the same platform, or simply use two different platforms and trade the same instrument or other correlated instrument. Don't think I really understand your question...

I was just suggesting that one could trade both directions with one account hence 'hedging' the exposure. however, doing so will not make any money unless the market is a trending one. in a ranging market both trades can get stopped out. i've often heard traders saying 'if I had done the opposite of what I did then I'd made xxxxxx money'. I wonder if this can be done in practice by the partner trading you suggested!

Ok, I get it. Yeah, well I have traded with a partner before and that's how we did it. I've posted about that so if you're interested you can check it out. Basically one of us was a buyer the other a seller. If I bought and was wrong, instead of a tight stop loss he just jumped in in the opposite direction as a seller. We had a proper strategy and a lot of 'If, then...' rules but it did work. I was just wandering if anyone else traded in that way - turns out nobody does! Or nobody wants to say ;)
