Do you think they'll ban spread betting this/next year in the UK?

I remember reading something in the news that indicates a tightening of the regulations, and as you can't spreadbet in the States, I get the feeling the same might happen here.

What do you chaps think?

What has spreadbetting got to do with what can and can't be done in the USA? If anything it's a taxation issue since spreadbets income is free from taxation in the UK.
As for regulations, it is another thing; we've all seen the financial scandals happening in the US under the noses of regulators. It's mostly the US that needs to get its act together but I suspect there will be some effect of it around the world.

they view s/b the same way as horse racing. there are 'systems' in horse racing too.

Through the EU MiFID financial directives, regulation is in fact already in action. A ban of SB is not an option as I see it. On the contrary, some countries are starting to view financial SB as financial instruments, thus taxation might not be far away in some countries.

Spread Betting has its use's
Dont Ban It, simply have seperate regulator.

If you trade for a living then it is unlikely that Spreadbet profits would be free of tax.
