Looks like they are gone!

Well it was under invested and the platform was terrible. No loss. They are just saving themselves throwing good money at a losing proposition.

I agree that the software had problems, though I am sure they could be resolved. I don't agree with "no loss", I think it is a huge loss. The sports spread betting world needs an exchange where clients can bet without the usual obstacles thrown in the way by the major players in sports spread betting.

I have used Spreadfair with relish since it opened several years ago and have played the bookie with a great deal of success and happily handed over many thousands of pounds in commission to the exchange. So if anyone is considering taking over the platform / concept, you can count on my custom.

Contrast this with other unnamed sports spread betting companies (I don't want to hear from their lawyers) who routinely knock back bets, restrict bet amounts and refuse to move their "market" prices to something realistic, preferring to milk as much money as they can from the majority of clients who favour sport buys. Witness the arbitrage positions between them and Spreadfair which routinely remained on "available". Place the "wrong" bets too often and your access to place bets online will be withdrawn and your account later closed. Not all of the spread companies are this bad, but the worst of them definitely is and this is very well known in the industry.

I wonder how many years I will have to wait for a spread betting exchange to reopen, or is spread betting itself in demise?

I think they got burned playing their own football markets. The did'nt make enough money from comission or their spread hedging, so they took some massive positions on themselves. This season has been very unpredictable.
