Anyone tried IG's new Deal Thru platform yet? Don't have an account now, but presumably if it's now possible to trade directly from charts, then they now have to guarantee their accuracy, thereby removing one way of moving the goalposts?

Definitely a point when trading anything that moves fast, especially if the price on the chart is now the same as the actual quote, which wasn't the case before.

I have looked at them but again don't see the need for it. I always get the price I want. Now their new SMS/Email notifications are very helpful. Set an alert and then get a text messge when the alert is triggered. Not too sure on their new button designs though.

from how I read it you have to click on chart; (of course) and a ticket opens up. (?)

Then you have to close it the normal way.

So not much point to it.

Haven't tried it yet myself, but I think you can also draw S/R lines and such on the chart, and have it alert you when these are touched (plus open up a ticket to open a trade).

Still, would be better if they went the whole way and allowed the system to place trades for you in these circumstances! A person at IG said that this is in the pipeline, in which case I look forward to it.

i think it´s actually quite good, you can leave stop and limitorders and get them filled without extra confirmation via horizontal and even diagonal lines, trading is now pretty much like with oanda/marketindex. i always liked the prorealtime charts so i´m quite happy with that. the next step would be the ability to automate a programmed strategy, i hope this is in the pipeline.

i have used deal through charts. It is useful if you want to place orders based upon key points on the charts. I get many trade ideas looking at the charts and I therefore found it easy to place those orders directly from the chart I am looking at rather than open up order ticket separately.

It is more useful for people who want to do "home work" with charts and and place orders on the go. May not be good for day trading.
