Hi,

I've found that there are differences between prices of the same commodity on different sites and spread betting company? For example GOLD futures (Apr) is closed with 924,7 on finspreads... and some other weekly charts on different sites show me that the price was 922.3 or even 918.4.

Why are they any differences? Can spread betting company manipulate the prices? Where should I look for real prices of the futures?

Spread betting companies make the market, so theoretically they can manipulate prices.

I use DMA, but then I mainly trade CFD equities. Some do acces to bank liquidity with spot FX. Commodities, I have no first hand experience with, but I would assume someone does DMA futures?

You won’t get the SB tax advantages though I’m afraid.

Spreads can vary enormously throughout the day as well. XP Power yesterday had a spread of over 40 points. They had just released some very good profit figures and price was shooting up nicely. Rise was over 150 points by the end of the day, yesterday. Just checked back at IG Index this morning and the spread is now 7 points.

It's just like the conventional bookie offering different odds on a horse race. With spread betting you are not 'trading' anything, you are just placing a bet.
