Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone can help ? I am still using a demo account on Capital Spreads, but I'm a bit confused by the outcome of a couple of trades I've done. I shorted the S&P @ £3, with a fairly wide stop loss, and an order limit of only about 6 points off the price. However, I was stopped out (with the order limit) with a profit of £192.00 ?!

Similarly, I went long with the DAX @ £3, with a stop loss of about 20 points, but was stopped out with a loss of only -£12.00,

I'm realy confused, apols if I sound dim, but I'm still fairly new to this,

thanks
Jackie

seems to be some odd stuff going on today, i have been testing using their demo system for a few weeks as im looking to go live in the next few weeks but it seems to be lagging way out of step with the market today.

Hi there,

well that could go some way to explaining why this may have happened. With the
-£12.00, I was beginning to think the spread had somehow widened, and as my 'order limit' was within that, it ended up being a loss ?! - well confusing. I was contemplating going live until this happened,.I thought there must be something vital I was missing ,

thanks again

If you haven't got anything useful or helpful to say, then don't bother replying, i thought the whole point of a forum was to also help those who are new - condescending sod!

The graphs are 15 mins behind if i remember correctly. You would be better off opening the real ac...you don't have to finance it.....and look at it in real time. The charts are much better. What are you looking at to trade ??

and the price is updated less frequently .. no good for intra day practice .. if you're looking to trade over a longer time frame then simulator is good enough. Also good to become familiar with the platform.

if you are a newbie to trading .. just some general advice . try to collect points not cash . in other words don't raise our stake above the minimum until you are collecting points on a regular basis ..

Keeping to T2W guidelines

Correct - Rols has been given a 10 point infraction.

Charlton has taken my post at face value.

To me the poster in question looked like a troll against Capital Spreads.

If jackie284 is genuine then my apologies.

It seems Big Brother is watching us all.

Unfortunately Big Brother wields his stick all too easily IMO.

Some are showing the same zestful glee as London Parking attendants.

He has IMO , look up some of his other posts, I think he was having an off day

Hi Jackie, If you take advice regarding other live account for up to date charts, consider e-trade, I think I am right in saying you will require no funds to open a live account and the charts and platform will be identical to capitals platform and charts

( I think they are part of same company/same address anyway)

Better chart software available from CMC or IG index (more advanced features)

I have held accounts with both firms, same platform but Capital spreads works best on my pc, smoother and more accurate ticket windows, there was warning that live platform prices would update more quickly but to be honest I have found them identical, fractionally quicker but nothing that should upset you.

e-trades were a different story :(

Demo account / I never had any problems with, if they have a platform / server problem they will obviously fix Live one 1st

Good luck
