Hello,

I am looking to enter spreadbetting in the UK and the above feature is vital for me as I will not always be able to watch the market.
So far, I only found one firm, global trader, that includes it in their platform. Are there others, better offers maybe?

Thank you for any help.

I checked out global trader. The front page is not very impressive but they do offer a trailing stop. That in itself is quite surprising as that is where spreadbet co.s make a lot of their money . They seem to be experts at taking out stops.
I couldn't find what their spreads and minimum bets are, so I sent them an email - no reply yet ! Perhaps someone knows ?????

Global trader offer Spread trading not Spread betting.

GFT offer spread betting and seems to be the only company offering trailing stop. Not sure why I don't hear a lot more about them.

Care to explain the difference , victor?? I presume they are one and the same thing.

nobrainer, Spread-trading and Spread-betting are different. But, as far as Global trader is concerned, they use the term Spread-trading to refer to Spread-betting. In that respect I was mistaken

However, if you want to know the true definition of Spread-trading pls see the following site.

To use Joe's definition which seems a fair one, "A spread[trade] is defined as the sale of one or more futures contracts and the purchase of one or more offsetting futures contracts" Eg, using the example given, "Long December Unleaded Gas
and Short August Unleaded Gas" . The risk here is due the changes in the difference between the two contract months.
This is a totally different concept to spread-betting, where it is the change in the price of the commodity which is relevant; hardly a matter of hair splitting?

Rest assured, I have no intention of promoting Joe Ross. I don't use his methods myself. Having said that, I believe, he has given a lot to the trading community. A lot of it is available free. Although I am not sure, I think the following website is his as well. Lot of free information for traders.

I thought i'd chip in on this topic.

I have just gone live with one of the big spreadbet firms. All of the main firms do have many resources and features(rubbish charts). Introducing trailing stops is a great idea for us punters, it makes no sense whatsoever from a business point of view. Their profits would take hammering.

Spread firms are there to make money from us. We have to work for it, they wont just give it away.

Also aren't you worried about being whipped out of position with a trailing stop?

Even if I had a platform with a trailing loss i'm not sure I would use it.
