All,

My goal:
Open a spread betting account

My trading style:
I mostly trade swing over a few days but if I can make a few quid on the day, I’ll jump in occasionally.
I am not interested in scalping/high frequency/automated/10 pips
Leverage: Initially 1:1 - until I get comfy with the system

What I’m looking for:
I have been looking into this spread betting business and I need to clarify a couple of points.
From what I have read, there seems to be 2 types of spread betting firms:
1 – The Market maker type that have a trading desk
My understanding is that I am trading against the house in this case, conflict of interest in that way makes my uncomfortable.
2 – No trading desk
Trades are executed, no questions asked, no slippage, what you see is what you get – I have also read that they don’t care if you win or lose, they hedge every position and you are not trading against them.

Questions:
A - Do point 1 and 2 above sum it up? Please explain if there is more to it.
B - Are prices/index quoted by SB firms real prices or are they made up?

Many thanks in advance. :)
