Having a good relationship with one self is the key to trading well.
The market is a mirror of your internal relationship.
If you have a good relationship within and you have good trust in your descisions then the market will reflect this back by providing oppurtuinities for you to take money off the table.
If however this relationship is somewhat strained or uncomfortable then the market will to take your money away from you.

Find out who you are and clear up your internal conflicts.
This is the key to succesfull trading.

I work everyday one these issues and have found that my trading is improving as i improve my relationship with myself.

People tend to make trading more complicated than it is.....All you need is a plan, but one must stick to their plan.

Baiscs of trading is, "buy strength sell weakness", don't look for bargains.

Yes i agree entirely that you need a plan and stick to it.
The journey to accept and execute this straightforward truth can be different for each trader.

I'm happy for you, if you have embraced and accepted this truth without to much difficulty in your trading.

CJIA,

Dealing with physical short-comings, eg overweight, lack of exercise, bad diet is straightforward. But where/how do you start with the psychological? Without divulging anything personal, perhaps you could give a few pointers or examples.

Thank you.

Grant.

Kiwi,

Just noticed your thread. Will read in due course. I need to prepare myself now for a night of a few beers.

Cheers.

My own experience in trading has led me to discover how my mind works and how it conflicted with making certain conscious that would sabotage my trading.
In order to resolve these conflict i set out to understand how my mind worked.
My investigation took me down various paths but most were a dead end.
The main problem was that my mind had built up a lot of defense systems that threw me off the path and i found myself back were i started.

My breakthrough came when i activated the observer in my mind or witness as some call it.This gave me the opportunity to observe the conflicts as they arose between both parts and how they played out.
The next step was to disidentify from the conflict, but this did not resolve the conflict but gave me the breathing space to investigate.

To resolve the conflicts i had to examine parts of my mind that i did not know existed, this part is the shadow. The shadow part of your mind is the powerhouse of your subconscious and is also the repressed part of your personality basically what we don't like about ourselves.
So to resolve the the conflict ,i had to examine my shadow or start owning and integrating this part of my mind in to my everyday workings.

This is what i meant with my first post of having a good relationship with myself.
I'm not totally there yet but find myself still making good progress.

The following have helped me in this investigation.
First and foremost is Mindfulness Meditation and Psychosynthesis.
Recommended Books are Mindfulness in Plain English, Bhante H. Gunaratana
Emotional Clearing,John Ruskan,What We May Be: The Vision and Techniques of Psychosynthesis ,Piero Ferrucci

Hope this helps.
