Calling all day-traders!

On average, how many trades do you place in a day?

I am assuming the its how many trades per instrument?

If I place about 1-2 trades per chart per day, and have 4 charts, is my answer 2-5, or 5-10?

sorry to be pedantic.

I'm looking for the total number of trades you would place in a day. So, from what you say, it would be 5-10.

If I buy 20 lots and scale out 5, 5, 5, 2, 2, 1 does that count as one trade or six?

If the latter, 40+ it is then (impatient and inefficient in equal measure) and a new category "Every day I airmail a case of Krug '90 to my broker and I hope it makes her smile." :)

I'd count that as one trade :)

Some days I am quite likely to scale in and scale out. the same index all day - scaling into an upbet, reducing it, reversing it, scaling up the downbet, then scaling it down and reversing again to an upbet, etc.

I might thus be holding an open position of some sort throughut an entire trading day. Or there might more likely be pauses when I step aside awhile. Do those gappier days count as more trades than when I am in all day? Even when the gaps are longer than the bets?

Sometimes I will trade 5 days a week, sometimes one day - so an averaged day is not a typical day. (The average person has one breast and one testicle. The typical person doesn't)

I ticked the 5-10 option, but I wouldn't like to do the counting

PS: Jilly - you ask a straightforward question, and look what you get back from us argumentative pedants!)

I'd count this as one trade as well.

it depends on what type of day it is presenting to me, and it can be as little as 2-3 to as high as
6-10

If I "get it right", then 2 or 3 trades is quite sufficient.

If I "get it wrong", it can be as many as 10 trades.

For me, this is related to the number of opportunities I see.
If there are very few opportunities then very few trades, say 3-4.
If there are many opportunities then maybe 30.
Therefore an average is a mathematical irrelevance.

I voted 6-10, but that's how many trades I actually make - I place a lot more orders, probably up to fifty in a day. Most of them are never filled, usually because I've pulled them.

Following the strategy I am using, only one trade per day.
And 1 trade per day feels great!

I am a Day trader and I am always looking opportunity of making orders. I place average 10 orders per trading day and average 50 orders in a week. I use EUR/USD, AUD/USD, GBP/USD for trading.

Well, it usually depends. I do 3-5 trades a day. However, once a month, I do to 6-10 trades a day. It's a part of my strategy plan.

It depends if I am working range action or riding a trend, with a trend I can do with about 3 trades but working the range I often do about 10 to 15.
