I have traded the Italian 40 index for several years. It is the most lucrative for spread betting yet few of you have noticed. The safest Broker is FXCM.

Don't you think that the lucrativeness (or otherwise) of a market or instrument is dependant upon the trader and their trading style? Be that as it may, what is it about the Italian index that makes it more lucrative than others for you - and why is FXCM the safest broker to trade it?

I believe FXCM offers a spread of 20 points on the Italian index. As a % of daily ATR that equates to around 3% - in comparison the DAX comes in at around 0.5% on that measure. This is something I also try to watch really closely. I want to know how much my transaction costs are and keep this as low as possible.
I often find it useful to draw a casino analogy. Fun/excitement factors aside, I would you rather play blackjack (0.5% house edge) than single-zero roulette (2.7% house edge) because the "transaction costs" are a lot lower.
