Hi Guys,

I wanted to know if anyone used the software offered by the company called Vantage point or profit taker. Both are same companies.

The CEO of the company is John mandelson.

If so, has anyone has had any good results from it. They claim that there software predicts right 80% of the time. Beucase they take into account of other markets effecting its prices.
I wanted to buy it for the major US indices, i.e the Dow, S&P and Nadaq.

Please let me know if anyone has had any experience with this.

Thank You

80% of the time they get it right?

And they still have time to develop, package, market and support software?

Wow....

Actually, that's probably what I'd do if I had a system that was 80% right...

[HI Bramble,

Have you come across them before. www.profittaker.com?

I heard about them before, but then got reffered by someone who uses their system out and got 80% accuracy. I don't want to take 1 person view on it want several.

Thanks

I've heard that it is alledegly just weighted MA's and used on Commodities.

You can still lose money being 80% right.

Hi.
The company just uses moving averages as their entry and exit points to enter or exit the market .

I subscribed for the free trial, and all I got was a guy from the states ringing me on my mobile for 40 mins at a time on at least 4 occasions. He was full of the "selling the dream" BS. He wanted me to be by my screen when he spoke to me so he could 'walk me through the system'. He would not send me any trial software or any actual trading stats.

It was also very expensive, i think he was discounting the full package down to $10,000, which of course "with the GBP/USD rate as it is, was practically a give away"

I then did a search on this site and found that it was supposed to be crap, and if I remember rightly the 80% prediction was simply whether the chosen instrument would be higher or lower in the next 2/3 days.

I can't remember the thread but I know the critisism was pretty scathing, so I left a message for my new american friend advising of the critisism on this site, and never heard from him again.

Hope this helps

Dave

Dear Dave,

I had the similar experience last month, where they won't give me 1 weeks free trial. I gave up, until few days ago I came across someone who purchased the software 5 years back, but didn't trade comodoties. He said he found it to be very accurate and 80% claim was right.
We were completly talking about another subject when we suddenly came across the profit taker software. He highly recommended it.

So here I am giving second thoughts to it, and basically trying to get several other people's experience rather then one person's.

Dave, Is it possible to direct me on which thread you saw the posting on profit taker?
Or anyone else who knows where that information maybe.

Thanks

Aye - had a similar experience myself - that guy was like a dog with a bone and so salesy (??) it really put me off. Besides, there didn't seem to be too much behind the ''80% correct'' boast which, as mentined above, is very badly defined. Of course it sounds VERY appealing but what does it actually mean?? Can you actually make net +ve gain?? Theoretically you should be able to feed to signals into Omnitrader or some automatice order placing system, shut the door and come back in a years time to count your money - can you??

Give 'em a wide berth in my humble. . . you can make a lot of mistakes with $10K!!

It's easier to sell a dream than to turn one into reality. :|

Dear Niel,

Thanks so much for that thread. It seems like there are a lot of US guys that have used the vantage point system. I was about to buy honestly....... I think I should hold a party and spend the $2900 and treat everyone who replied to the thread!!! :)

Thanks so much Guys! Guys like you makes this forum one of the best!

Just for fun...

....some kind soul posted the TradeStation code for the MA a while ago. I don't have TS so converted to Excel. It's only a daily chart example and on further scrutiny you can pick up far better systems for free on the net.

Hiya ChowClown,

I've downloaded your attached file which is very interesting indeed. Where did you getthis from?
Also do you use this as a guide to trading the Dow Futures? Also you said that you can pick up systems for free on the net?

Thanks and look forward to your reply!

If it were right 80% of the time
(a) They'd be trading it, not selling it, unless they're nuts
(b) If in fact the CEO is Coco the Clown, CFO = Les Battersby, and the rest of the board hear voices and they ARE selling such a system, then their users would be far too busy burying gold bars in the garden (which the rest of us call 'Wiltshire' or similar) to post on Elitetrader, T2W or anywhere else for that matter.

I'd suggest the conversation should go:-
"Yes, it's 80% spot on"
"Why are you standing in the street talking to me then?"

Dave

Hi Tradetolose,

The tradestation code was posted on TTW (from memory) and was easily re-created in Excel. I don't use it specifically to trade the DOW, although I do keep a close eye on the daily chart using 13 and 39 moving averages, as well as on-balance-volume and slow stochastic (39,1,1). You might find CJs' alternative swing trading thread of interest on here....

You will be amazed at what you can find after an hr or two of googling :) Keep searching and learning and eventually things begin to fall into place.

Good luck.

Hello again ChowClown,

Can I just ask you how well your strategy above of using 13 & 39 MA's as well as OBV is working?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi Tradetolose,

I position and swing trade the DOW. I use the 13/39 crossovers just to help visualise potential turning points and respect the daily OBV (using a 30MA signal line) and SStoch signals. I lost a fair whack on similar daily chart trades when I began trading the DOW and using the above would have helped make better decisions. As I don't trade the above as a method in it's own right, I don't have backtesting stats, sorry.

All the best.

I have had Vantage Point for 3 years. I don't use it . Basically is it uses moving averages to direct you to make your own discretionary judgement trades. There are no precise entry or exit points.
Anybody wants it, mine is for sale. 20 modules

If Vantage Point and its predicted moving average and its neural index indicator gives so much 80% right n accurate predictions....................................................So why they are selling software for 5000 USD package or 10000 USD package,,,,,,,,,, WHY THEY DONT USE THIS SOFTWARE TO DOUBLE TRIPPLE OR 1000 TIMES TRIPLE their own ACCOUNTS ???????????????????????????????? Why they dont use it for their self? If someone say that Oh Buddy they are using who told u they aint using................................... hahahaha my son If they are using then they must not be a need for selling this software ,,,,,This question is a typical one BUT RE-THINK if U CAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
