I.T jobs in trading

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say this is a great site btw, learnt alott about trading.

I just wanted to know does anyone know of any UK prop firms that could potentially be hiring C,C++/C# or java developers. Or even if they don't have any positions of that title any roles that have anything to do with there I.T. (testers etc.)

About a year ago Tibra were looking for both traders and IT people too.

Ofcourse there'd be a lot of IT systems. Try looking at the postings on monster or so. Also you might want to get in touch with some recruiters who'd have a better clue as to which company is recruiting now.

What qualifications do you have dossage? Could you pass a technical test?

Unless you are joining on a graduate scheme you are unlikely to get a job in IT finance without some relevant experience.

If you don't have that experience then I suggest you first of all pick up a few books and study Java and/or C# so you could answer a few basic questions and apply to software houses to get a bit of experience under your belt before going for the bigger money working for financial institutions.

You should also get a bit of database/SQL experience too. Pretty much everywhere I've worked uses a relational database.

fyi - I have 14 years experience working in IT for the top banks in London.
