Breaking into the sector...

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I could ask of some valuable advice of some of you. I have only recently expressed an interest in the investment banking sector and would like to get into it, but I have no idea where to start. I don't know which areas which would be best suited to me as I don't know which competencies are required for different roles. Would someone be able to give me a basic outline of where to start? I have recently graduated with a 2:1 from Oxford Brookes (not as impressive as LSE or Oxbridge I know) and I understand that IBs will only look at those with 1sts from top universities. I am just living in a dream world or can I break into this industry?

Also, I'm thinking of taking the SII or IMC on my own initiative to increase my chances - any advise on which one to take?

Thanks!!
