Business economics is a good foundation for a career in finance and will allow you to consider several alternative options. It will also give you time to think things through. I assume that you have some doubts about going to uni - why are you thinking twice about this ?

With regard to qualifications for securities try looking at:

http://www.securities-institute.org.uk/web5/infopool.nsf/HTML/mMembership-Home-page

They have pages on various qualifications and also how these fit into different career paths.

You could also join as a student member.

I would also suggest that you contact the HR section of a friendly broker and ask if you can chat to someone about career paths.

I'm sure you will get lots of other good advice here from different corners of the profession, so watch this space
