VAT on trade desks

Can anyone tell me if they pay VAT on their trading desk - if so is the VAT on the total cost of everything like PC's and monitors or just rental of office space?

good question.. as far as I was aware, my desk fee at Refco didnt specify any VAT on my statement, it was just shown as a cash debit, though I never thought to ask if it included VAT or not.

They do charge VAT on the lot, they pass on the VAT charged to them by software vendors etc Refco/marex charge VAT but it's retrievable as long as your main market source of income is an exchange outside of the UK, you are therefore classed "outside the scope" of VAT
