Energy trading?

Hi,

I'm a Mech Eng MEng who finds trading more interesting. Does anyone know the best way to approach the likes of the oil and gas giants, or indeed any other good company, to get a job in the trading side of oil and gas? I see this as a possible way to combine my engineering experience with my trading knowledge.

Or is this a 'pipe-dream' so to speak? Pardon the pun.

Looks interesting - not sure I'm what they are looking for though - more sales experience required I think.

Best way in is through the trading arm of one of the utilities such as Centrica, EDF, RWE or EoN. A lot of the banks and some hedge funds also have desks covering these products but they only take experienced traders so route into those will be far tougher. It is a very good place to be right now, the markets are exploding and everybdy wants to throw money at it.

Tubbs, an observation. If you really have the attitude implied by your previous post you will definitely not get anywhere in this business. BIG it up man, you are going to have to shine as the enthusiastic and pure optimist on your cv and at interview to have a chance.
