Morning Everyone

Just curious as to how many full time traders take August off each year?
Most of the guys I know take the whole month off due to decreased volumes.
The strategy I use hasn't been performing as well, but still turning a small profit with fewer signals.
Interested to know if it is actually feasible to be out the market a whole month?
Then again we all need a holiday don't we?

I like to take august off to work on other projects or to go travelling, also it leaves me de-stressed for the run up to the autumn/winter session. Anyway I really like a long break :cheesy:

Normally I'm quite eager to be back, only takes a couple of days to get back into it.
 
After today, I think I should have taken August off.

Off for two weeks! More to do with kids holidays than slow markets. I wouldn't be surprised if get a bit of action in next few weeks. Too bad. Kids need vacation and so do I. See you all nearer to the bank holiday. A good week to get back in the mode.
 
If I'm around then I'm trading the US - it's my living and I love it ;-)
The moves tend to be very early - the first half hour approx and then it often fizzles out at this time of year.
Sometimes I have a look in the evening again and pick up quite decent trades.
Things should return to normal in September.

today NFP

Today, i blew my whole weeks (small) profit on the absolute garbage which was the much anticipated NFP. After today, im wishing i had taken all of august off. There are still oppportunities to make money, some days about 1 in 5 its really good, the rest of the days its hit or miss with one swing the whole day..you either were on the right side or not..
 
After NFP, I also wish I had taken Aug off. But I haven't, and now I'm going to be on the grind throughout. Mind you the markets have been moving around for a fortnight or so. Good luck to all who are in the firing line!
 
A couple of years ago, I made a huge amount of my income over the Summer. That's why I will not be taking any time off.

Hi Richard,
I presume that the good evening you had was due to the good downward movement of the market. If so did you find it a problem at all of shorting those stocks you traded ? Did many of your candidates come up with 'hard to borrow' as most of the trader community would be trying to do the same ? Or when you did manage to get a short on did you manage to get the ammount you wanted ?

Hi Triplepack,
Several of my core trading stocks triggered one of my entry patterns and I took two of them.
They are very liquid stocks and so there was no problem shorting them the usual way.
I'll be talking about that particular pattern at the September seminar where I'm sharing the platform with Jake Bernstein and Larry Williams.
