I'm very happy with my machine, they are not the cheapest company but they seemed to have a good reputation. Delivery was a few days later than advertised, but they seem very thorough in quality control etc. and I think I would use them again.

First of all work out what you want it for. I have a PC that i only use for trading . If I want to use one for video applications I use a networked one configured for that purpose. The only other thing might want to do is maybe a bit of MS Office, powerpoint preparation etc so I use a laptop. The can_do everything model should not be your trading platform.
I build my own, far more control over the process and not at all difficult i.e. if you were any good at lego this isn't much different. It's hardly a masterclass in electronics, these things are done before they're even out of the box- The real art is in the shopping list, good decisions on what you want and can live without can save hundreds, a bit of forward thinking too helps, e.g. AMD are cheaper, and they're kinder to the people who wish for backward compatibility, whereas intel almost make a new socket each time, are pricey, but top end intel will tear up any AMD competition. A lot of the traders on here like multi screen too, I have three but I cheat as it's over two machines with synergy linking them up. Graphics cards with 2 outputs usually pretty cheap off ebay, unless you're a gamer, in which case, it's the most important and expensive part of your rig

I built a lower-end gaming rig for just 500$ to tide me over while I say to splurge on a heavy-duty machine.
The hardest part of building a PC is figuring out exactly what you want to do with it, and then researching all the components to make sure they're all compatible with each other - like if you're going to go for an AMD or INTEL build, motherboard, video card, etc.
