hi all,

i'm in the process of setting up a new broker account and i have a choice of which currency to denominate it in.
euros are whats in my pocket, but the given the current euroland wobbles, would i better choosing something else?

ideally something that seems likely to appreciate vs the euro in the coming months.
my main trading focus will be on LSE & NYSE, equities and futures. theres an exchange commission (0.5%)on any booked profit or loss. not on the principal sum. but given the relatively small sums i'll be trading it doesn't sound too bad.

i can choose just about any currency i want, but which one?

any views welcome

You're most likely better off just sticking with the euro. If you go with anything else you're taking a long term bet on that exchange rate.

that was partly my thinking though, i'm not too keen on the future prospects of the euro or gbp at least over the next 6 months to a year.

having said that forex isnt really my thing

hmm chf had occured to me, also possibly cad/aud, they look like they might provide more stability??

The sensible thing to do is what John said for the reason he gave.
