bored so ima make a thread: TA or FA?

FA for sentiment, TA for precise entry/target/bail level. That's how I feel about it.

That said, some say you can see the FA in the charts.

Hm. I wonder how that'd work.

Direction: look at an MA cross. So let's imagine it says it's bullish.

Wait for news (nearest thing to precise fundamentals): only take a trade if the news agrees with the sentiment. Target would be lots. Exit if it's looking bearish? Can't use key levels as that would be using TA. :D

TA for short term trades, FA for very long term trades. For anything in the middle a bit of both is the best option. No point in taking trades on the basis of FA alone unless you are Warren Buffet.

I honestly can't think which one is better... charts are too useful to dismiss, and to ignore fundamentals would be silly.

However lately TA has been getting a right bashing, i dunno why, maybe its because most people flock to it because it's 'easier'. Some fundamental traders believe that charts don;t move the market, you don't need a chart to trade, fair enough george soros is proof that charts aren't needed. but a lot of big money knows that noobies use TA , so when they see a big swingin' dick support level then they know that's a good place to buy , to soak up all the sell stops and to get a better price, otherwise big money buying anywhere would push price up and give a worse average price.

You don't have to be big money to know where amateurs and newbies put their entry orders and stops. Just looking at a chart will tell you. There's a reason a high percentage of breakouts fail.
Your method would define whether TA or FA is for you. If you are scalping just to pick off a few ticks then FA is rather useless. If you are positioning for the long haul then TA gets very cloudy.
