Hi guys, anyone know whats the easiest backtesting software to use? Been trying to get my head round IG indexs' program but there seems a lot of programming to learn. Is there a simpler version out there or should I just get my head down and learn it:confused:

It depends on what instrument you are trading. For backtesting on forex I like MetaTrader myself. It has a programming language which is similar in style to Java so is easy to use if you can code. You won't be able to use it with IG Index though.

I think if you want to backtest any kind of strategy which is of more than trivial complexity you are going to need to learn how to program.

IMO coded backtesting is a waste of time unless you're trying to develop an EA. Why? Because if you're trading manually you will only trade at certain times of the day, use discretionary exits etc. Are you going to be trading mechanicaly or manualy?

If manual try Forex Tester, it's reasonablty accurate and can use simulated tick data (uses a random fill sub minute). It'll do coded backtesting too BTW.
