Historical share price data

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm looking for historical, monthly share price data starting from 1988:01. I also require sector indice data (oil & gas, retail, utilities etc).

Yahoo finance is great but it only goes back a few years.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be highly grateful.

Free would be great but I don't mind shelling out a few quid.
 
We have been able to buy inexpensive intraday data for US equities since 1997 from this web site:
http://www.kibot.com/

They also offer hundreds of historical market indices and indicators.

I should have stated I was looking for UK FTSE 100, 200 and 350 supersectors. I'm corresponding with FTSE themselves to see if they can help. Other than that it's datastream which I can't get access to.

Thanks I have e-mailed both of those, we'll see what they come up with.

I'm studying the effects of oil price shocks and volatility on various sectors of the UK stock market. FTSE 100 is easy enough to get data on so are individual stocks. Hopefully one of the above or FTSE themselves will be able to help with the FTSE 350 supersectors
 
Pro real time gives EoD data for free and is good to use for most charting purposes.
 
Sure, I accept that, but I am having trouble finding any providers that supply this information. Most suppliers only provide futures data.
 
I went to FTSE and LSE directly in the end, I only needed monthly close data for a historical regression analysis to see what influence commodities had on certain stocks and sectors.
