"Rookie Trader"
CNN Europe
2:30pm GMT 25 December 2009

I caught the end of this last night and it's repeated again today.
It seems to be about a financial journalist learning the basics of trading. On the bit I saw he was taking advice from CMC markets, David Buik at BGC partners and others. Also saw him reading a book by Alexander Elder...

Anyway it might be worth a look if peeps can tear themselves away from Top of the Pops

(n)

Just saw the whole thing through. Free advertising for the SB firms, but very little there for traders, even new ones.

It also appears on YouTube btw:

Are there only four episodes? If so, it's a bit disappointing we didn't get to see how the journalist faired in the early stages.

It rarely happens, but I am literally speachless after watching this nonsense.

It was 5 clips and 5 minutes each, but there was only about 10 minutes of non repeated content in there.

For such a short programme it did place a lot of emphasis on risk management and taking losses. Start with a demo account and then live trade at 1 pound a point.

All good advice and hardly nonsense, just way too short.

I watched this cra* in sheer disbelief - how could I have been so stupid as to waste my time watching it? It's that sense of sick fascination - you cannot believe it can't get better.
Trading for intellectually challenged two-year-olds.

marketing for spreadbet companies etc. making it look easy so more poor sods lose their hard earned money...

Wot absolute dross.

Shorting currencies! ...wtf...shorting has bad press....retarded beyond words.

Well it looks like he went long BARC at 270.75. Don't know how tight his stop was. Looks like they encouraged him to jump into a macro trade without any consideration to entry levels.

Low was 255 and it eventually topped out at 390 so the trade probably made him some sim money.
