Salmon Futures

Got this emailed to me today - Fish Pool a company that deals in futures and options for salmon. I think its actually quite clever we have futures for hogs and cattle so why not fish.

There are so many elements of our lives that could have the risk components 'mitigated' by this kind of arrangement. The only key components that were missing imho 15 years ago when I first got into the markets are now there, namely;

1) Mass availability of central clearing facilities at smaller size level (what is Paypal for example if it's not basically a clearing house)

2) Mass availability of data transfer (i.e. near-universal availability of internet)

I see ventures like this being pretty ubiquitous very soon.
