Has anyone found any cheap or free backtesting sites/systems that can perform simple exercises like moving average crossovers?

but if I use excel doesnt it take alot longer and I have to find all previous prices, closes etc? I just want a platform where I can put in buy/sell when one moving average crosses the other

I've been trying to find the same thing..

Try Forex Strategy Builder - Free forex software or ProBacktest built into Pro Realtime charts.. And if you manage to get the built in stops to work, let me know =]

thanks guys...the forex stratergy builder seems like what im after expect for stocks. So any others would be useful for some of us on here im sure.

If a system/methodology is capable of being backtested I bet it's not worth using..

then you should tell us whats your 'system' if theres any, and how you are able to believe gonna take an entry/exit in the market..

The only systems and traders that I know of that are consistently successful in the long term are largely discretionary, in terms of entry, exit, and money management. To successfully code all those discretionary elements in order that it can be backtested is impossible in my opinion.
