You taking classes or distance learning?

im looking at doing the classes and the distance learing. iv got 1 more week of work so i was hoping to do i of the classes their which is the unit 1 workbook and the other distance learning

what would you recomend?
thanks for ur reply:)

I'm in the process of signing up for Kaplan distance learning. Saved me £20. Was going to say if you're going to do distance learning it doesn't really matter who you pick does it lol. BPP and Kaplan win on rep btw.

have you ever heard of any 1 who has or is doing these courses and weather it is the distance or class course im jusy finding it hard to part with the money when their are so many scams out their? the bpp course is slightly more exspencive than the 7city course y? do they have a better service?

I know of BPP and Kaplan. They are the two major go to firms for professional Accountancy exams. They are Mega firms mate you're not gonna get ripped off by them. I haven't head of 7city personally but that doesn't mean they are a scam. Personally I'd would (and I am) going for Kaplan or BPP just so you know what you're getting.

thanks for ur time mate think i will stick with kpp even if it is a little more exspencive i would rather go with an established compony than 1 i havent heard of?
when are u looking at taking the course and were do u think after having passed the test u can go or will be?

Wherever the quals take me mate. I need to speak to my boss and see when he wants me to sit my Accy exams and try to fit the investment courses around that. Or I might swerve the Accy. I dont really want to commit to a single plan atm in case things go t*ts up.

r u a trader atm or do u do any trading at all. im really trying to push my dream like every person but like to no how other people r coping with it and how well they do and how they do it? sorry to ask so many questions:smart:

No I'm an accountant but I was to get into trading and investments. I do a bit of trading from home/market donation but there's only so much you can learn outside of an industry specific teaching environment. You can learn a lot from this site but I want to get a grounding myself so I can form my own ideas rather than directly absorbing somebody else's. Don't worry about asking questions you're talking to #1 poster. I'm constantly asking people questions.

If you want to trade for a living, you're wasting your time and money taking stockbroker exams. They are two completely different jobs, as has been said on here many a time. Focus on getting a good P&L together over a number of months, that's worth more than any number of qualifications.

Easier said than done. I'd say 2k is the minimum to even begin trading properly. What's the point in having a sb account with a bit of profit at 10p/point as a 'track record'?

The size you're trading is irrelevant- if you can trade successfully at 10p/point, you can trade at £5/point. Focus on your returns, not the amount of money.

Bpp courses etc are bugger all use for trading. I did one when i was a broker. you learn about tax, options, the best investments for low risk clients etc but absolutely naff all about trading.

If you want to be a broker advising people to buy xyz stock then go for it, if you want to be a trader then do the 10p thing and if you don't f*ck it up for a few months then you'll have made enough to trade £1pp then £5pp etc until you are trading decent size and will either have a good track record to go to a prop shop etc or a big enough bank to do it for yourself.
