If you take a typical divi return of 5% then £100,000 will give you £5K pa to live on.

£5k per annum is tax free allowance for an individual, i presume.

You have to pay tax on dividend income. So have to risk 1 million pounds to earn a good pre tax salary. And you will lose out to inflation if the share price doesnt rise because you're raping all your divs.
