what was the high of the 6 o clock bar on the dow jones

Why don't we use this thread as a place to compare charting prices ?

Just for piece of mind to differentiate the occasional bad tick from the genuine price move ?

If you don't have access to more than one charting software, if you suspect a bad tick, how are you to know if it is a bad tick or genuine price movement unless you've got something to compare it with ?

and?...

if it's within a few ticks of the genrally price then it's just the market oscillating......that happens...it's not Ig stop hunting, it may be the underlying market but not then.

If it's a stop 50 pts higher then you may have a query.

Markets move, sometimes you get stopped out sometimes you don't....fact is you either entered at the wrong time or put your stop in the wrong place.

and .. well, nothing really.

Paulie : "Hey guys, big spike at 13.30 this afternoon on the Bund... any ideas?"
Black Swan : "Yes, nfp you ..... "

or

Paulie "Hey guys big spike at 14.45 on my charting. Any ideas?"
Black Swan : "Probably bad tick"

or

Paulie "Hey guys big spike at 14.45 on my charting. Any ideas?"
Black Swan : "such and such was announced ... "

Just thought one thread to put all these queries would be a good idea ....

Could be called "what the hell was that?" thread ....

But seems like I'm on my own on this one ...

You aren't. That is why you should have access to more than one charting software package. For example...Quotes.com

Yo Paulie, I'm being awkward but IMHO the guys who moan about spikes, weird price movements etc. just don't get it and tend to blame the SBs for their poor trading. It's their (the SB's) ball, and they set the rules of their game. So what if IG have a different price to CS or FXCM, live with it...:)

I agree Swan, no point in moaning about spikes - what happens, happens.

But sometimes just nice to know why .... Newbies like myself just can't work out why something that has happened sometimes.

As with ffsear's query on eur-chf ... ok not a spike, but very interesting to find out the reason as explained by Gammar ...
