Can MM's get any info on who is trading their stock?

Hi Folks,

We can see market maker names in a level 2 screen but does anyone know if they can get any info on you - i.e when you place a limit order for instance would you have any form of unique identifier or could they see what broker your using etc? And does this apply to both UK and US exchanges?

UK ..... not for trades dealt through the order book (SETS) all are settled via annonymous central counterparty.

If you deal through the RSP then the MM will know which broker it's dealt with but not with Mr X from Exeter

Annonymous is good news to me as I was concerned that if you started taking some of the pie from the MM and they could identify you they could try to "punish" you. BTW what is RSP?

basically all the MMs have a system that offers broker the faciliy to deal with them electronically in a set size.
