Commissions and spreads are killing me

FTSE 2points
S&P 500 - 0.75 points
Equities - UK £20 min or 0.5%
Equities - US 2 cents per share + 15usd

Is this standard ?

You need to trade a longer time frame that way your runners will outdo
what you losing on the spread and commissions.

Look at the hourlies as a start and go to a lower timeframe to get
your entry right. You will know when your wrong then you can cut
your losses quickly..................

You must be spread betting. Spread on the ES is rarely more than 0.25 points but it will kill you just the same if you are just taking guesses or shots in the dark. Timeframe is irrelevant.

How on earth do you figure he's guessing from the info he's given?

RE Spreads, TF is relevant in that a bigger TF will have a bigger range and makes the spread less significant.

Try reading what I wrote again.

RE - 'Timeframe'

Of course timeframe is relevant - bigger timeframe means bigger moves, so spreads/costs are a smaller percentage of profit.

If you're looking for 500 point moves, a 2 point spread is insignificant. If you're looking for 4 point moves, it's very significant.

Yes, yes...'timeframe' the panacea to all trading woes

Change your timeframe and you will make millions...simples :rolleyes:

The OP mentioned NOTHING about timeframes in the original post, so I suppose everyone is just GUESSING at what the real problem is...:rolleyes:

Maybe the solution is to say "try buying low and selling high, and selling high and buying low"

Problem solved!

why do you have to be such a tool?

Why? Because this forum is full of people like you. ie/ They are 'talking' when they ought to be 'listening'

UNSUBSCRIBED. You kids enjoy yourselves now.

Thanks - wouldn't want to distract you from buying at limit down and taking profit after a couple ticks.
