Hi all,

I am in the process of setting up an office for spreadbet/CFD traders in London. The aim is to create a community of like minded profitable traders to trade from a professional environment. You will need to self-fund your account and cover desk fees which currently sit around the 700 mark.

Provided is a prime city location with internet access, PC & 2 monitors, bloomberg news (TV), a live squark feed and on-site technical support.

If interested feel free get in touch.

You need to be half the price. No disrespect intended....(actually there is) you're not this first with this plan. TBH if I wanted to 'share' trades with like minded folk I'd pay Dan Armitage 90 quid a month to trade in his live room a couple of sessions each day without the commitment to an office space.
Which serviced office is it in, or are you hoping to get 20 applicants before you commit to giving the likes of Regus your cash up front...? Sorry to say it but there's only one winner in these potential set ups; the landlord.

What would be the benefit?
If we're all on this website we all have computers and monitors. The really serious traders will probably already have two. This forum is already a community of like minded people. Squark is free. I'm sure most people could get a suscription to bloomberg. Seems like you'd just be taking 700 a month out of the profits. I doubt that the traders who make enough not to care about 700 need to do anthing different.

That's just my 2 cents anyway. As swanny said, half that price and I'd be all over it like a rash. Just for the contacts lol. Best of luck.

Given this a bit of though. Heard Mark Dixon of Regus on R4 last week, nice bit of pr, reckons his office space business is booming on the back of businesses collapsing by 1,000 a week:confused:; it's total BS that'll show up eventually, but that's for another day. Anyhow he stated he would give office space away, why not try him?

FWIW there is no way you're going to get a plan 'away' charging folk 700+ a month for a couple of screens and a few big tellies with a Sky link to Bloomberg, you're in dreamland. You have to price it at a point which makes sense - 375-395. If you can crack that you're on to something...perhaps.

IMHO the real growth for pooled knowledge is on here, or in live trading rooms. hope this helps.:)

Im a couple of years away from going full time (i hope).. but would deffo be up for sharing an office.. but would be looking around £500 max..

As for those who "can't see the benefit"... not all of us are happy sitting at home on our own, with only an internet forum and youporn to keep us company! :)

also, can someone explain what a Live Squark feed is? IS this like a direct dealing line to a market maker/broker?

hmm...OK, you say 2 years from going full time, at which time if you're not; making money, got your plan sorted and have developed an edge you'd be hoping that sitting next to a few buddies for 500 quid a month would help you be profitable?

TBH I can fully understand the going to the office for approx. 375 quid a month (count me in Cheshire/Manchester) but even for that I'd want; free advice/seminars laid on, cakes at eleven, free pool, table tennis, massage chairs, a live trading room as part of the deal ( so if I didn't want to stroll into the office I could log on and trade)... the works.

500-700 quid for a couple of monitors an IG platform and Sky telly is 5hite value quite frankly, but heh, who knows, might work.

Not at all. The reason I'd want to be in an office is due to the shear bordom of being at home all day, as well as the added routine of going to the office every day. I would not even consider it if I were not profitable already nor would I think of it at a reason to become more profitable. I enjoy being around people and have lots of friends in the city, and the expense would be a valid one IMO.

At home, i'd prob sit in my dressing gown all day and crack open a bottle of wine at 10am! Actually **** it! that sounds great!

I kinda see your point however, when you've got it cracked you could go on a mountain bike treck for a couple of hours, take a netbook in your backpack, be on top of a hill and scalp away to your hearts content. :) Heh, you can even crack open that bottle of wine and not get done for being over the limit; liquid courage on the way back down...
Point is you can really enjoy your freedom/work hours to suit, you don't need an office/desk space, a total virtual set up, with the opportunity to park ya bum somewhere would be good though.

I would like to know where you can rent your own office in the city for under the 400 mark, and that is before accounting for the internet, bloomberg tv and squawk.

FYI, my place charges 10,000 pcm for a 6 person office, I have negotiated a better rate, but believe me, 700 is near enough at cost... if we can get a good number in, this figure could be lowered.

There are certain firms out there that charge double this... given some have better news sources (such as bloomberg terminals), but for technical traders; those who position trade, or trade levels, and aim to catch 20-50 pips per trade as opposed to 2-5... this is a far more efficient set-up to meet their requirements.

Yea, but thats just a matter of personal opinion. I need routine in my life. Not so sure about a a 2 hour mountin bike treck round south london either!

Not sure about an entire office, but i know for sure you can rent desk space with IT support for around 400-500 pcm.

Meant to ask, if it's at "cost" then why do it, what's the point...for you?

Good question.

For me the value is in the location with regard to contacts, and been based on a floor around other traders. I could never trade at home. For me work is work, home is home.

Believe me if you are seeing a desk for 395 per month it will be just that; a desk, and the location will not be city (bank/liv st/moorgate)... they will charge you extras, like internet for £100 and up. But hey if you get that sort of offer and keep all additional expenses sub £100, happy to trade alone with no news, foot the set-up costs, and take a years contract in your name etc then go for it.

You state you are "in the process of setting it up", let me make you a wager, you're not. You're simply fishing around to see how much interest you'll get before you slide off to serviced office set ups such as Regus and or the other crowd whose name escapes me.

They'd bill your shared client direct and you'l take the small profit if you can get approx. 15 commitments which you'll never do at 700 quid each.

You'd be providing nothing; no real service, no real opportunity, a pc, a couple of screens, a desk, a squawk, an info feed..so what? Just for guys who don't want to work from home, but would rather give you 700 quid a month?

You're in dreamland IMHO, but crack on, set it up, let's know how it goes.:)
