I want to write a trading contract between myself and a friend.

info: I want give friend money to trade for me. They are not a licensed trader/broker.

Is it better for them to pay me, or for me to pay them a percentage of profit?

tell your trader friend he/she will get 25% performance fee. if loss then no gain at all

Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet, but are you asking which is better between you saying to your friend "I'll pay you 20% of the profits" or your friend saying to you "I'll pay you 80% of the profits"?
